Venecia is truly the hub at the centre of a wheel of famous towns throughout Antioquia. Within an hour of picturesque driving, one can enjoy day trips to the several of the most renowned pueblos in all of Colombia. Santa Fe Antioquia, to the north, is perhaps the most famous of these, once the capital of Antioquia it sits astride the mighty Rio Cauca and is the site of the emblematic Puente del Oriente, the first bridge and longest bridge of its kind on the continent. To the south, across the Cauca Valley, are Jerico, Jardin and Tamesis, famously picturesque agrarian towns, with their lively and colorful squares, the hills which surround them dotted with citrus, avocado and coffee plantantations, and their famously welcoming inhabitants. And of course Medellin, the most modern and bohemian city in Latin America, itself a hub for global fashion, music and culture.
